An insight into the restaurant on a monthly basis
Message from the Manager, Sam Hayes.
Spring has finally sprung and a month has very quickly passed as Max & I being the new owners of the Lighthouse. We would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments and cards that we have received and Max & I look forward to being the Lighthouse Keepers for the next twenty years and catching up with old & new faces over the many months ahead.
Many questions have been asked by customers about our plans for the future and the same answer is given time and time again which is to up hold the great name the restaurant has achieved and keep pushing forward to make it as good as we can.
During March the Aldeburgh Literary festival was held and a massive thank you should go out to John & Mary from the bookshop for all their hard work in creating what is now an invaluable weekend of trade for us and the town in still the early part of the season. With Easter also being early this year let’s hope with the weather it kicks off a great start and buzz to the town.
As always don’t forget to follow us on Facebook or Twitter and keep up to date with all our menus and any events on our website.
We return with an installment of the people of The Lighthouse, for the first time we’re interviewing customers!
Tell us a bit about yourself, a brief history of why you have been coming to Aldeburgh for so long
Steve & Marian Edwards are from Luton, Bedfordshire but have been coming to Aldeburgh for their holidays for over 40 years! Marian’s first holiday was in her granddads caravan and then her dads. Around 10 years ago they decided they enjoyed Aldeburgh so much, they bought a cottage here and visit the town every fortnight or so.
What are your opinions on the Lighthouse?
First visited The Lighthouse Restaurant about 15 years ago and fell in love with the concept. These days we probably visit approximately 20 times a year, we’ve seen various changes within the restaurant but still adore the place.
What keeps you coming back to The Lighthouse?
The quality of the food is fantastic and the service that is provided with a mixture of the informality of the restaurant just makes it perfect for any occasion.
What would you say was your favourite dish that we serve here at The Lighthouse?
For Steve it would be any fish dish & especially the oysters, and for Marian it would have to be the Lobster in the summer!
Is there anything you would change here at The Lighthouse, no matter how big or small?
There is nothing we would change; we would love for the specials to keep going as it gives the customers the variant each time they visit
And finally, what would your perfect weekend be, here in Aldeburgh?
Of course, Sunny weather. Relaxing and our Saturday evening visit to the best eatery of the many in Aldeburgh as well as talking to the many friends we have met through our visits to The Lighthouse.
Thanks Steve & Marian, see you soon!
The Summer weather has begun and Aldeburgh is booming with holiday makers, culture seekers and busy locals so we recommend booking to avoid disappointment, especially on a Saturday evening where we now open from 6.00pm every week until late October, we hope to see you soon.
